Southside is packing for Tennessee this week. 

The Mavericks have yet to win a game at home. But they're 3-3 on the road.

Southside (3-6) hopes to find some magic Wednesday when they meet Jefferson City, Mo., in the first round of the Union City, Tenn., tournament. Southside will play McCracken County, Tenn., on Thursday. Southside drew a tough draw. Jefferson City is ranked No. 1 in Missouri, and McCracken County was 36-7 and Brighton, Tenn. was 20-11.

Heavily-laden with underclassmen, the Mavericks opened 7A-Central play this week with a pair of losses at home to Conway and Cabot.

Southside resumes conference play March 28 against North Little Rock.

Mac Moody leads the Mavericks with a .481 batting average. Wade Robertson is batting .308.

But the Mavericks are averaging just 2.4 runs per game and the team is hitting .235.
