MORETON, JACKSON SHINE FOR MAVERICK TRACKSTER

Hunter Moreton, Miguel Hernandez and Ryan Wallace finished first and third, respectively, in the shot put and discus Thursday at the Conway Wampus Cat Relays. Moreton won the discus with a throw of 134-2. He was second (52-2 1/2) in the shot put, and Hernandez was third (47-4 1/2) in the shot put. Wallace finished third in the discus with a PR throw of 129-2. Southside dominated the field events. C.J. Jackson (12-8) won the pole vault and teammate Noah Taylor (11-0) was second. The Mavericks’ Adam Pierce was second (6-0) in the high jump; teammate Erich Schwarz placed fifth in the triple jump. The Mavericks finished third overall with 103 1/2 points. Northside was eighth (32). Also for Southside, the Mavs’ 3,200 relay team finished fifth (9:02.67). The squad includes Andy Clark, Evan Foley, Taran White and Keaton Black. The Mavericks’ 1,600 meter relay team — Tyler Walker, Ethan Alexander, Schwarz and Jalen Riley — placed fifth (3:40.98). Riley also finished fourth in the 400. Aaron Hubbard was fourth in the 1,600 and White was seventh in the 3,200 for the Mavericks. Southside’s Justin Burks (23.72) was second and teammate Jeff Johnston (23.73) third in the 200 meters. Burks was sixth in the 100. Loren Hernandez won the girls shot put (35-2 1/2) and helped the Mavericks to a sixth place finish (31 points). Conway won both the boys and girls team titles. Hernandez was sixth in the discus. Southside’s Lauren Sutherland (10-0) was second in the pole vault; teammate Mary Ruple was fourth in the long jump and eighth in the triple jump. Northside’s 400 relay team of Davante Bausley, Jordan Dilworth, Biyron McGrew and Tre Norwood finished second (43.53). Dilworth and Bausley finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 100 meters. The Grizzlies’ Ratell Rone was fourth in the 300 intermediate hurdles and fifth in the 110 hurdles. McGrew was sixth in the long jump and Bennett Hasley finished sixth in the 3,200 meters. The Lady Bears placed seventh overall with 27 points. Northside’s Jakima Wright was fourth in the shot put. Also for Northside, Aniya Webster was sixth in the high jump and seventh in the triple jump. Northside’s Sierre Thompson third in the 100 hurdles and seventh in the long jump. Thompson, Webster, Najla Andrews and Deairah Mays led the team to a sixth place finish in the 400 relay. Andrea Garcia, Marlenne Mendez, Silvia Chavez and Maria Martinez combined for a sixth place finish in the 3,200 relay. Mendez was seventh in the 3,200 meters.
