The Southside Mavericks are 20 games over .500. They’re on pace to land another 30-win season.

But the big focus of the week is Tuesday’s match with North Little Rock.

The Mavericks (23-3) and the Charging Wildcats (5-3 in conference) have met twice this season, including Saturday’s tight 2-0 win.

Southside beat NLR 3-2 last month.

The Mavericks, who lost to Greenwood in the finals of the Fort Smith Invitational, are 2-1 against the defending state champion Lady Bulldogs. Incredibly, the teams have played 11 sets — with the Mavs holding a 6-5 advantage.

Southside beat Greenwood 25-19, 17-25, 15-3 on Aug. 28, and the Mavericks eked out 25-27, 25-18, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13 victory four days later.

Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs and Mavericks split the first two sets by identical 25-22 scores before Greenwood rallied to win the third set 17-15.
