There’s nothing easy about the 6A-Central. For Southside, it won’t get any easier today when the Mavericks travel to Bryant.

Southside (5-12, 0-3) is coming off an 81-46 loss to North Little Rock.

Coach Stewart Adams said the Charging Wildcats may be the most difficult team to play in the conference. And that says a lot.

Bryant, which won the bid to host the 6A state tournament this year, is currently 10-6 overall and 2-1 in the league. The Hornets have won two in a row following a loss to Northside in the team’s league opener.

“We’ve talked about this league; if we’re not playing at peak performance as the game goes along, the sample size gets bigger,” Adams said. “That’s what we’re working on; we’ve got to fight through four quarters. That’s a team that if you make a mistake they’re going to capitalize on it; they’re good at getting going.

“Then if your guys get tired, they’re bringing in fresh bodies — they’re the deepest team we’ve seen this year.”

The Mavericks return home Friday to face Mount St. Mary and Catholic in a girls and boys doubleheader.
