The Southside Maverick softball team took its first two games at a tournament Friday in Van Alstyne, Texas.

Southside posted a 9-2 win against Tom Bean (Texas); then downed another Texas school, Lakeview Centennial, 15-0.

In the win against Tom Bean, the Mavs (3-0) scored five runs in the top of the second and added three more in the fourth.

Madi Conklin went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, while Kendall Willis was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

Meliah Hunter was the winning pitcher, allowing one earned run over four innings and striking out four.

Then against Lakeview Centennial, Southside scored five in the first and six in each of the next two innings.

Hana Dingman was 3-for-3 with a double, five RBIs and two runs scored and Willis was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.

Hunter and Reese Robinson combined on a three-inning no-hitter. Hunter went the first two innings, striking out five, while Robinson struck out one in her inning of work.
